![]() ![]() And for almost as long, the gang has teamed up with Timex for special-edition Timex x Peanuts watch collaborations, bringing a playfulness to the wrist like few brands can. Marcie has been played by many voice actors in animated Peanuts productions.Since 1950, Snoopy and the rest of Charles Schulz’s iconic Peanuts characters have graced newspaper pages across the nation. Initially, Peppermint Patty addresses Marcie as "dorky" and, when talking to others, refers to her as "my weird friend from camp". Originally, Peppermint Patty kept telling Marcie to stop calling her that but eventually grows accustomed to it. Marcie is best friends with Peppermint Patty, constantly addressing her as "sir" (she called her "sir" in her first line in the strip). ![]() She and Peppermint Patty were the only girls in the strip to wear a t-shirt and shorts (although Lucy and Sally wore pants during the winter in the 1990s’ strips, and Eudora wore pants regularly). She also wears an orange t-shirt (colored red in the specials and The Peanuts Movie). ![]() ![]() Marcie wears round glasses with opaque lenses and wears her dark brown (sometimes black) hair in a short bob style. Melendez (who had a distinct Mexican accent) noted with amusement that some of the performers for Marcie imitated his reading so closely, they repeated his accented "Charlce" ( IPA: / tʃ ɑːr l s/) instead of "Charles" ( / tʃ ɑːr l z/). As with all of the Peanuts performers who were too young to read a script, director Bill Melendez sometimes had to speak the children's lines to them. The first actor to perform Marcie's voice in the TV specials was a boy, James Ahrens, from 1973 to 1977. She apparently is under a great deal of pressure from her parents to excel in school, and, in a story in 1990, sought refuge from her demanding parents at Charlie Brown's house and fell asleep on his couch. Even so, she is possibly the most credulous of the gang. Later, Marcie was portrayed as an overachiever (she once quipped that she had already chosen her college and enrolled her three children in preschool) and academically the brightest of the Peanuts cast. In It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown, Marcie shows complete ineptitude in the kitchen, making several unsuccessful attempts at preparing eggs to color for Easter, and then later biting into one without removing the shell first (saying "Tastes terrible, sir"), all to Peppermint Patty's great consternation. However, Marcie is sometimes portrayed as being somewhat naive. For example, in the 1973 Emmy Award winning special A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving when Peppermint Patty throws a tantrum about the "dinner" Charlie Brown made for them, Marcie gently reminds her that he didn't invite her to dinner but that Patty invited herself. Marcie is a soft-spoken voice of reason to Peppermint Patty. In 2015's The Peanuts Movie, for which Schulz's son, Craig Schulz, and Schulz's grandson, Bryan Schulz, were included among the film's writers and producers, her name is shown to be "Marcie Carlin". In the 1994 animated special You're In the Super Bowl, Charlie Brown, Marcie's surname is given as "Johnson". However, she has been given two surnames in animated features. Schulz never gave Marcie a surname in the comic strip. As Marcie became a part of the regular cast, she appeared in the same class as Peppermint Patty, sitting in the desk behind her. A forerunner of Marcie's character, a girl named Clara, made an appearance in a sequence at a girls’ camp in June 1968. Marcie made her debut on television in the 1973 special There's No Time for Love, Charlie Brown. Schulz's cousin and the inspiration for the Peppermint Patty character. The character was modeled after Elise Gallaway, the roommate of Patty Swanson, Charles M. Marcie made her first appearance in the daily strip from July 20, 1971, but her name wasn't mentioned until the strip from October 11. Marcie has appeared outside the comic strip, and she has been featured in numerous Peanuts television specials, cinematic films, theatrical plays, and video games. She is friends with the tomboyish, athletic Peppermint Patty, who gets annoyed at Marcie when she calls her "sir", and she has a mostly unrequited crush on the underdog Charlie Brown. Marcie is a studious girl who is sometimes depicted as being terrible at sports. Marcie / ˈ m ɑːr s i/ is a fictional character featured in the long-running syndicated daily and Sunday comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. ![]()

![]() ![]() For dark mode, we'll set it to gray.800, and also provide the props. ![]() We can now notice that the text color is inverted and it doesn't play well on dark mode. We'll do _active, and change the background color to mode, where the first argument will be brand.700, yet another darker shade, and for the dark mode as well, brand.400. For the dark mode, we'll say brand.300, again, one shade darker. For light mode, it will be brand.600, just one shade darker. Let's overwrite the hover state and set the background color to mode. In the previous lesson, we talked about pseudo props and how we can use them to configure the style based on the component state. This looks cool, but nothing happens when we hover the button and press on it. If we try changing the theme, we can see that the background is the lighter or 200 shade of our brand color scale. We can see that the background turned green. Then we'll provide the props to the mold method. The second argument is the dark mode, so that would be brand.200. We can now set the background color to mode, where the first argument is the light mode and that would be brand.500. Let's convert the object into an arrow function and return the same object. We will need to provide the props to the mode method. Before we continue, we need to refactor our primary variant into an arrow function that accepts props as an argument. Let's import the mode method from Chakra UI/theme tools. We want to do the same for the button as well. If we check the checkbox on dark mode, we can see that it's color is a bit lighter than our brand 500, the 200 shade to be exact. We're talking about the dark mode and light mode. Chakra UI provides us with a mode method that we can use to define a color based on the currently active color mode. Next on our list is the brand background. We'll spread the brand ring in the primary variant. We'll place it in object and then get it back to the checkbox component. We're going to extract the focus part into its own variable at the top. Let's reuse the ring configuration from our checkbox because it applies to the button as well. We can see that the button changed and that the border-radius is sharp. To see our variant change, let's go to the details component, and instead of providing the color scheme, we'll remove that and provide our new variant, primary. Let's start by setting the border-radius to none, so rounded="none." Then we're going to enter the variants section, and we'll name our variant primary. We're going to enter the components section and make a new entry for our button component. We're going to create a primary variant for our button component that will set the background to the brand color, disable the border-radius and also use the branded color as the outline. Lazar Nikolov: In this lesson, we will learn how to create custom variants in Chakra UI. ![]() ![]() ![]() If a technical experience log is requested in the application, you may upload your own file or click here to download a blank technical experience log (MS Excel) or here for a Google Docs version. TJ Max is the temperature that a CPU will start throttling at and so for users who aren’t sure how hot their CPU should be running at, this Real Temp feature is really nice to have. One unique feature that it will also display is how far away from the TJ Max your CPU is. The program will give you all of the vital information about your processor, including the current temperature and load. Real Temp is a lot like Core Temp in that it operates solely as a CPU temp monitor and that it has a simple and straightforward interface. So, if you’re looking for a bit more robust of a monitoring program, then Open Hardware Monitor is probably the right option for you. Not only does Open Hardware Monitor provide temperature, voltage, and frequency readings for your CPU, it also gives you the ability to monitor your memory, your fans, and your GPU temperature as well. If you’re looking for a lightweight program that will not only monitor your system’s CPU, but also most of the other hardware in your computer, then Open Hardware Monitor might be the right option for you. However, we advise against overclocking through the use of software (and, instead, overclock through your BIOS).īut, if you’re looking for a straight-forward CPU monitoring tool for your AMD CPU that is easy to use, then you can’t go wrong with Ryzen Master. It even offers features that will allow you to overclock your CPU. If you have an AMD processor, AMD’s Ryzen Master software will give you everything you need to monitor your CPU. So, if you need a CPU temp monitor that can do more than just monitor CPU temperatures, HWMonitor is worth a look. HWMonitor displays not only your CPU’s temperature, core voltage, operating frequency, and load, but it is also able to monitor your GPU, your fan speeds, your storage devices, and plenty more. HWMonitor is a great tool if you’d like to monitor more than just your CPU. The program also gives you information like current operating frequency, power draw, and core voltage and it will tell you what processor you have in your system, what socket it uses, and what lithography the CPU is. If you have an Intel processor, Core Temp will show you the individual temperature and load for each of your CPU’s cores. Core Temp provides you with real-time CPU temperature and load monitoring. I have tried various other configurations consisting of more or less RAM / more or fewer CPU cores but performance is good no matter what - it's just the CPU that reaches or exceeds 100% usage). As long as you don’t need an extensive hardware monitoring program and you just want a lightweight and straightforward CPU temp monitor, then Core Temp is probably the best option for you.
